GCG Asia’s film SCAM follows a desperate con artist on his journey towards salvation in a ruthless neo-noir world. Written by GCG Asia Malaysia’s writers, SCAM takes place on a dying planet earth, but starts as humans achieve their first landing on Mars. 20 scientists were successful in their mission to land and inhabit the planet Mars. As years of research and inhabitation pass by, a facility is built and the planet Mars is deemed livable. The whole expedition was led by Elaine Musk, the pioneer of Marx enterprise.
She was one of the first 20 scientists, and is the only human who has not yet returned to earth after leaving. With the success rate of 100% of a 1.5 year long journey, the Marx Enterprise with their 700 ships was the planet’s last hope. Each ship may only occupy a maximum of 7,000 people in the sleeping preserver tubes, with 30 guards on patrol. However, with resources reaching their limits and the earth slowly decaying, the world government had to decide who was worthy to continue life on another planet. In the next 3 years, the ships will continue to deploy and come back until resources on earth reach 0.2%. When all the worthy people are on Mars, the ship will seize deployment.
Jack, an ex-con man played by Amirul Khan and Lucy, played by Farah Cho, are in their apartment as they watch the breaking news unfold. They seek comfort with one another as their child, played by 8 year old Sasha Matilda, is asleep in the room next to them. Jack makes desperate attempts to find his way to help his family reach worthiness. In one of his many attempts, he steals a birth certificate that could alter his child’s documents to make her special. However, in an emotional twist, Jaxier, the person Jack was working with, had double crossed him. With everyone chaotically finding ways to be deemed worthy, options run low for the ex-scammer man. On Mars on the other hand, Elaine Musk is slowly finding out the truth about Mars and its “breathable” atmosphere. Did she really lead them to salvation?

At first I felt so puzzled at the characters, and then I finished it. And it all began to fit again.
